beBond Application Guide

SURFACE TREATMENT

Digital Printing • beBond Printable incorporates a print optimized surface for industry leading ink adhesion. • Refer to the printer specific Owner’s Manual as well as recommendations from the ink manufacturer for instructions pertaining to the proper preparation prior to printing. • Each flatbed printer utilizes different color profiles that not only control the color and vibrancy of the ink, but also controls the density of the ink being applied to the substrate. Please select the printer profile that your printer recommends for ACP. • Take extra precaution when inspecting and selecting panels for print applications. Panels which are not flat or have damaged corners could cause head strikes during printing. • Panels should be shipped and stored flat to avoid bowing. The front and back of the panels should be kept dry. • If two-sided printing is required, wait up to 24 hours for the ink on the front side to cure before printing on the back side. • If additional adhesion is required, the use of adhesion promoter can be applied to the substrate prior to printing. Please apply the adhesion promoter to a small area followed by a test print prior to applying to the entire sheet. Applying Vinyl • beBond’s smooth flat surface is perfect for all vinyl applications. • Ensure the surface has been thoroughly cleaned prior to vinyl application. • Applying vinyl with soapy water or application fluid will help release air which may be trapped between the vinyl film and panel. Using application fluid will allow you to easily reposition the graphic if/when needed. Applying Paint • To prep substrate, lightly scuff the surface. Do not sand through the painted finished surface. • Spray 99% Isopropyl alcohol on a color free and lint free cloth and wipe the panel in a single direct motion. • Recommended paints are urethane and enamel-based paints. • Matthews Paint, Akzo-Nobel & One Shot Lettering Enamel paints are commonly used within the sign industry. • The factory surface of painted beBond is a polyester paint system.
