Separate and count all pieces of extrusion, components and hardware from the individually pre-packaged material to make sure you have received the proper amounts indicated below. Note: Raceway covers are packaged separately. Assembly instructions for Standard 1Part / 2Part Single Face kits

Step 1: Decide which method of assembly will work best for you. SignComp offers 3 methods of assembly for you to choose from. It can be welded, bonded or mechanically fastened. (see below)

Option 1 Option 2 If you choose to weld, you have 2 options. Either weld along each side of the corner angle as shown or without the corner angle, weld at the mitered corner seam and then weld on the flanges.

If you choose to bond with adhesives, insert the nozzle for your adhesive into the holes provided in the corner angle. Squeeze enough adhesive in until you see it flow out under the angle for each hole provided.

If you choose to mechanically fasten, use the #10 x 1/2” hex head screws provided. Using a 5/32” drill bit pre- drill holes through the flange into the angle as shown above. Note: Use wax or similar type of lubrication to easily fasten into angle.

Note: If you are assembling by using the body corner angles, it is NOT necessary to put in all the corner keys that are provided. It is only necessary to use the corner keys in the retainer as shown. (see fig. A & B) If you are bonding the corners, the corner angle is placed in the outer channel as shown. (see fig. A) If you are mechanically fastening, place the corner angle under the inner body flange as shown. (see fig. B) If you are welding the mitered corner seam, place corner keys in the body and retainer as shown. (see fig. C) If you are welding along the edges of the body corner angle the corner angle is placed in the outer channel as shown. (see fig. A)

Step 2: Start the assembly process by laying out the extrusion and making sure the raceway cover tabs are positioned on the same side all the way around. Then insert the corner angles and/or corner keys on both (top & bottom) OR (left side & right side). It doesn’t matter which pair you choose to put them in, just as long as its either/or. It works best if you lay the first section of extrusion that has the corner keys/angles on the floor and position the extrusions without corner keys/angles slowly over and into the slotted provisions which align for a tight corner connection. Note: Make sure that the raceway cover tabs are on the same side and aligned. To fit in the section of extrusion, lay the sign on its side and slide the last piece into alignment as shown below.

It may be beneficial to run one or two ratchet straps around the cabinet to assist you in squaring up the cabinet and ensuring the corners are tight. Fasten corners together using the method of choice as shown above. (see fig. A, B and C) Note: If welding, the heat from welding may cause straps to burn. You may want to place a heat shield of some sort between the strap and the extrusion.

Step 3: Attach the retainers to the body. Locate along the scribe line and starting 2’ in from the end, using an 1/8” drill bit, drill a pilot hole through retainer into the body as shown. (see fig. D) Repeat at opposite end. Evenly place the remainder of the retainer screws in between end screws approximately 12” on center. Attach retainer using the #8 x 1/2” hex head screws provided as shown. Step 4: Install internal supports as necessary for the type of installation required. Note: Internal supports are not provided in kit.

Step 5: Attach raceway covers. Depending upon which direction the lamps will run (horizontal or vertical), raceway covers are made 1-3/4” long so that they can be trimmed to fit (see fig. F) or be bent to roll up the adjacent sides. (see fig. G) If corners have been welded or mechanically fastened you will need to notch out around the weld or the screw so that the raceway cover will lay flat and slip into the raceway cover tab. Push one side into the raceway cover tab and fasten (fasteners not included) the other side down as shown below.

Step 6: Installation of faces. Trim the face 1/2” smaller than the overall height and width of the sign box. This will allow sufficient room for the face to expand and contract. The use of a hanging bar is recommended to keep the weight of the face off the bottom section of the cabinet. The hanging bar can be made from the same material as the face and can be attached either by bonding or mechanically fastening it. Assembly instructions for Standard 1Part / 2Part Single Face kits

Step 7: Cut a 7/8” wide strip of material and place strip on the back side of the face. Align the strip with the top edge of the face and bond or mechanically fasten. (see fig. H) Note: If the hanging bar is bonded to the face make sure to allow adequate time for the adhesive to dry before the face is installed. Remove the 2Part Retainer, place hanging bar on the tab and slide face into place. (see fig. I) Install 2Part Retainer back on sign box.
