APPLICATION GUIDE

PRE-INSTALLATION PREP AND CONDITIONS:

1. Before installation it is recommend that you attach a small test piece of the perforated film to the window to help you become familiar to the film’s characteristics and adhesion strength. 2. Clean windows especially on edges to removing any dirt, dust and sealant. a. Use isopropyl alcohol, if desired, to remove any residue; allow it to evaporate completely before installing film. Do not use Ammonia or Solvent based Glass Cleaner (i.e., Windex). b. Use a lint - less cloth or commercial paper towels to clean and completely dry glass. 3. Temperature of glass must be moderate —between approx. 40º F and 80º F. a. In hot weather: i. Avoid install in direct sunlight. ii. Apply film in the early morning, while glass is still cool. Note: Applying film to Hot glass may cause the film to stretch during installation. b. In cold weather, apply film in mid -d ay after windows have warmed. Applying film to glass that is too cold may adversely affect adhesion of film. 4. In most cases (for smaller panels) the product can be applied dry. I f desired, for larger panels and to avoid stretching, a small amount of Rapid Tac professional application fluid can be used to assist with install (unlaminated graphics only). a. Make sure all fluid has completely evaporated shortly after panel install. b. Wet install temperature should be above 50º F. INSTALLATION 2. Flip the top of graphic down and peel liner away from graphic to approximately 6 inches exposing the vinyl’s adhesive then cut just the release liner away using a utility knife slightly above hinge point. Next sharply fold only the liner and tuck under the back “toward Glass”. Note: You will now have the adhesive exposed and facing out at the top of the graphic. 3. Flip the top of the graphic up so the adhesive now faces the window, applying graphic to the glass by working up from hinge point with a soft squeegee. Use straight (non - arcing), overlapping strokes being careful not the stretch product. 4. Once the top of the graphic is applied remove the tape on the left and right edges. 5. Next to finish the panel flip bottom of the graphic up: a. If using wet install, spray a small amount of application fluid to window below the hinge point onto Glass b. Reach under the bottom of the graphic to the edge of the liner that was previously trimmed and folded. 1. Align and level graphic to application surface. Tape the graphic on left and right edges about 1 foot below top of panel creating a hinge line across the panel. c. Peel the liner away from the graphic exposing another two to three feet of the adhesive and apply to surface now working from top down. (Important; DO NOT apply with any tension or pull strongly on down liner or graphic.) Continue to apply to the glass surface in this manner until the entire panel is installed. 6. Repeat this procedure until all the panels are applie d.

Notes:

• Do not stretch graphics during installation. Vinyl has memory and if stretched may cause edge lifting as it returns to its original condition. • For multi panel installs; it recommended to butt end the edges. Do not overlap. • When exposing the adhesive never touch directly on edge with your fingers. This can contaminate and affect adhesion. • Avoid going directly to the edge of glass where it meets gasket by leaving 1/4" gap. o The glass may begin to curve. o There is gasket, sealant and dirt on edges. • Best practice is to use an edge sealer on any perforated films especially 50/50 Perforated film for flat window Vehicles. This can be done in several ways. o Use a liquid edge seal pen with felt tip. This is very common among trained installers. o 3M offers a liquid edge seal 6oz can. This is best applied with a small artist paint brush to edges of the perf. o Tape method. Cut ¼ - 3/8” Strips of clear cast laminate and use as an edge tape around all edges. This keeps all edges down! • If possible, allow for the perf to adhere to glass for 24 to 48 hours under stable conditions. • Best method of shipping graphics is to lay flat between protective board. If it is necessary to roll graphic, please wind onto core to prevent the Liner from Tunneling or Graphic/Laminate from wrinkling. • Always roll with the print side facing out. o Glass can have a rougher texture than the flat area. o Moisture can gather and remain for long periods.
