ROUTING

Straight Cut Routing Instructions • Reference the equipment manufacturing guidelines and recommendations. • Bits should be carbide tipped single flute for 3mm (1/8” thick) or double flute for 6mm (1/4" or 3/8") and kept sharp.  Recommended router feeder speed: • 3mm beBond USA Econo, Premium Lite & Premium – 120”/minute feed rate at 20,000 to 22,000 RPM • 6mm beBond USA Econo & Premium – 120”/minute feed rate at 20,000 to 22,000 RPM • Groove Instructions • All fabrication and bending of beBond USA should be performed in a temperature-controlled environment. • Bits should be carbide tipped and kept sharp. • Set up a work space large enough to hold the largest panels flat in both directions, finished side face down. • Set up router with the recommended router bit (90 degree v-groove bit with a 3/32” radius ground onto tip). Use a bit with a rounded blade rather than an angled or cone-shaped blade. • It is recommended that you use an oversized and solid edge guide on the router made out of ½” laminate to ensure a straight v-groove. • Carefully route the first edge of the panel, creating a v-groove. • When creating the v-groove, use a radius bottom v-groove bit, control the depth of the cut so that only a thin layer of polyethylene core material remains, do not route through to the aluminum. Repeat for each edge. • Apply caulk to the v-groove to seal the joint prior to bending. Bend edge creating a 90º angle on all four sides. • The outer side of the sheet can be bent manually, which will result in an exact and clean fold with follows the routed groove. The fold should be done in one action, exceeding the desired angle by 15-20º. The fold should not be repeated as it will weaken the material and may cause a break. By bending slightly past the desired angle, it can be eased back to the correct position without repeated bending.
